Questions and answers about SGL
How a shared child calendar for parents who live apart works: what you can do, who it's for and when it launches.
About the service in brief
SGL is a shared calendar and agreement service for parents who live apart. Its main goal is to agree on the child's schedule and preserve the agreements: the routine, visits, events and expenses. Platforms: iOS, Android and the web. Below are answers to frequently asked questions.
What is SGL?+
SGL stands for Shared Ground Language. It's a co-parenting app for parents who live apart, bringing schedules, proposed changes, agreements, discussions and shared expenses into one neutral space.
Is SGL just a shared calendar?+
No. The calendar is an important part of SGL, but the core of the product is the agreement process. One parent proposes a change, the other responds or suggests another option, and once both agree, everyone sees the same current version.
Does each parent need a subscription?+
No. One parent pays for the family space. The other parent gets core access without purchasing a separate subscription.
What if the other parent doesn't join?+
SGL can still be used in individual mode for personal schedules, events, expenses and records. But those entries will not be presented as confirmed by the other parent.
Can sent messages or agreed decisions be edited?+
Important actions retain their history. Corrections create new events or versions rather than silently rewriting what happened before.
Does SGL decide which parent is right?+
No. SGL does not score parents, determine fault or make parenting decisions.
Can SGL records be used in court?+
Users can create verifiable exports of their history. SGL does not guarantee that any court or authority will accept an export as evidence or assign it a particular legal weight.
Does SGL track location?+
SGL does not continuously track parents' locations. We deliberately avoid turning the product into a surveillance tool.
Can a lawyer or mediator access SGL?+
Professional access is planned. It will be explicit, permission-based and revocable.
